Enrichment Classes

Dear Parents:
Our Enrichment Program for this year will begin on Thursday, January 31, from 2:00 until 2:45 pm. Below are the descriptions of the classes that will be offered during the Fall Semester. Our Enrichment Program is for students in Grades 3-8. Please consult with your child and mark his/her first, second, and third choices. We will do our best to place children in classes that were chosen, but placement is on a first-come first-serve basis and we need to limit the size of each class. These forms need to be returned no later than Thursday, January 24.

| Elements of Art – Mrs. Drach and Mrs. Lowe will work with students in Grades 3-8 by learning the elements of a line, shape, color, texture, form, and space. They will learn about complementary, secondary, and warm colors. They will experience the elements of art in their lives. |

Board Games– Mr. O’Donnell and Mrs. Carter will teach students the rules behind board/card games. They will provide opportunities for students to play board and card games that require thinking as opposed to strictly playing games of chance. |
| Stained Glass - Mr. Al-Greene and Mrs. Burdine will teach students the basics of pattern making, glass cutting/grinding, and copper foil technique of wrapping cut glass. They will be able to assemble a finished piece of art to take home. |

Aerobics and Yoga – Mrs. Strickland and Ms. Moore will involve students in light “work-outs”, that could include stretching, dancing, kick-boxing, martial arts, and basic aerobics. This class should be fun, energetic, and relaxing for all. |
| Puzzles – ARE YOU PUZZLED? Mrs. Girby and Mrs. Brown will help students explore various kinds of puzzles, such as: word puzzles, math puzzles (including Sudoku), codes, mazes, tangrams, and even jigsaw puzzles. |

Recreational Games - Mrs. Farnell and Mrs. Van Cleave will teach the students the fundamentals of recreational games and allow opportunities for them to master the games. |
